About SILA
The Seoul International Law Academy(SILA) was founded on March 1983, by Professor Paik Choong-Hyun (1938-2007), who was a professor of international law at Seoul National University.
■ Purpose and Mission
The SILA is dedicated to the empowerment of international law research and policy-making based on international law. Furthermore, The Academy has provided legal resources and offered academic conferences for fostering experts and educating students in the field of international law.
The SILA serves as a nexus for those interested in research and study of international law in Korea. The Academy organizes a broad range of academic conferences (International Law Research Seminar, International Law Academy Lecture Program and more) and publishes an academic journal certified by the Korea Citation Index (KCI). The Academy covers full spectrum of legal studies on international law and offers international law perspective to the policy makers. The SILA aims to explore the synergetic relationship among future researchers by supporting international law programs participation abroad and promoting research articles by young academics.

| January, 2006 | Registration of “Seoul International Law Journal” as a candidate for Korea Citation Index (KCI) journal |

| January, 2009 | Registration of “Seoul International Law Journal” as a Korea Citation Index (KCI) journal |
| February, 2010 | Establishment of the Center for Climate and Sustainable Development Law and Policy (CSDLAP) under SILA |
| October, 2010 | Certification of Dongbaeg Medal(국민훈장 동백장) for Professor Paik Choong-Hyun, from the Korean Government |
| March, 2011 | Launch of International Law Academy Lecture Program for university students |
| November, 2014 | 30th anniversary academic conference on the establishment of SILA |
| April, 2017 | Commemoration ceremony for Professor Paik Choong-Hyun and award ceremony for the Paik Choong-Hyun Prize at the Asian Society of International Law |
